How do I apply to CAPAA?

When can I submit my application for the 2023-24 school year?
Th online application will be posted early 2023. Please check back.
When and where are the auditions?
Auditions for the 2023-24 school year consist of two choices which occur at your home high school or middle school. An audition on will be held at the Arts Center for students not currently enrolled in Oldham County Schools.
Can I just show up for an audition?
No. Live Auditions, Interviews, and Portfolio Reviews are by appointment only.
Who can audition?
CAPAA accepts applications for current 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th grade students. CAPAA is a public tuition-free high school program for residents of Oldham County.
We are planning to move to Oldham County. Can we still audition?
Yes! Please include in your application a contact email and phone number that will not change.
Can a student audition for more than one arts focus area?
Yes. During general auditions, students may apply to a maximum of two disciplines, but they must submit a separate application for both and meet the audition requirements for both. The student can only be admitted into one arts discipline.
Do I have to prepare for my audition or portfolio review?
Yes, entrance to CAPAA is very competitive. Review the audition/portfolio criteria as soon as possible. Be prepared to show the Adjudication Board your best and most complete work.
Do I need good grades to get in CAPAA?
All applicants for CAPAA must demonstrate a minimum academic GPA of 2.8 with no failing grades for the two semesters prior to the audition. If a student meets these criteria, passes the audition and is offered enrollment, the offer is contingent on meeting academic requirements for the entire 2021-22 academic year. Students who do not continue meeting the academic requirement may have the offer to enroll in CAPAA rescinded.
How do I prepare for my audition/portfolio review?

How are the auditions judged?
Each applicant is adjudicated by a number system rubric based on each discipline's specific requirements and by CAPAA faculty and industry professionals. The applicants with the highest overall audition score and who have met all other application and academic requirements, will be offered enrollment.
When do applicants receive their audition results?
Acceptance letters are EMAILED within one week of your audition date.
If I am not accepted to CAPAA this year, may I audition again?
Yes, please audition again if you are eligible.
